A BIOGRAPHY OF EMILY "EMMA" OVERMIRE HARE, by Laurence Overmire (great great nephew), Nov. 2018:
Emily Overmire, better known as Emma, was born Jan. 3, 1850, in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Civil War veteran Levi Overmire and Sarah Hill.
Emma married Francis M. "Frank" Hare on Nov. 2, 1870, in Clark Co., IL. They had 2 daughters: Nellie (1873-1967, m. Edgar Allen Barry) and Florence, also called Flora (1874-1963, m. Joel Ira Houghton).
Emma's marriage was short-lived. Her husband Frank died in 1876 at the age of 32. In 1880, Emma and her daughters were living in Marshall, Clark Co., IL. Emma's unmarried sister Mary was also living with them.
By 1885, Emma and her daughter Florence had moved to Minneapolis, MN, and were living with her brother Silas Overmire and his family.
In 1900, Emma and both her daughters were living on their own in Minneapolis. By 1910, Emma had gone to live with her daughter Nellie and her husband Edgar Barry. Then by 1920, she had gone to live with her daughter Florence and her husband Joel Houghton.
Emma died in Minneapolis on March 2, 1921, at the age of 71, and was buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
