East Palestine, Ohio - Paul "Pete" Oberholtzer, 98, of 524 East Taggart Street, passed away 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at his residence.
Paul was born May 18, 1909 in New Waterford, a son of the late Paul and Martha Zellers Oberholtzer and had been a life-long resident of the area. He had retired in 1974 from the former Kenmar Division of Ethan Allen where he employed as an upholsterer for forty years.
Paul is survived by his wife, the former Martha Yurjavcic, whom he married September 18, 1970. He is also survived by a step-son, Frank W. Ganoe, Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Susan Oberholtzer, New Waterford; three grandchildren, Jay and Mark Oberholtzer, and Kay Strouse, a step-grandson, Frank Ganoe, Jr.; six great grandchildren: and his daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Oberholtzer, Wintersville.
His son, Jay Oberholtzer, had preceded him in death earlier this year. All six of his brothers, Jeff, Russell, Joe, Charles, Clarence, and Roy Oberholtzer; and five sisters, Hazel Maple, Martha Adams, Dorothy Sample, Virginia Drotleff, and Mary McGaffie had also preceded him in death..
Pete enjoyed many things in life, including fishing and gardening, walks to McDonald's for coffee, or just sitting on his front porch swing.
Friends will be received from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday
at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Sutton of the Bible Presbyterian Church, Enon Valley, PA, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetary.
