At about age 14 (abt 1835) Abbie married Capt. Samuel McHenry Strader, a steamboat captain. Samuel and Abigail met in the early 1830's during a trip on the steamboat when Abbie met the Captain (Samuel).

They had 11 children but lost a daughter (9) and son(7) to scarlet fever in 1847, 2 infants in 1846 and 1849, a daughter in 1860 at age 18 when she was thrown from a buggie, and a son in 1863 in the Civil War.

Abbie died of a heart attack in 1865 at age 44.

Abbie is my 2nd Great Grandmother.
