AMERICAN FALLS - Fred Dubois Thompson graduated from this life on Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 at American Falls, Idaho.
Fred was born February 20th, 1916 on the kitchen table of a hotel in Dubois, Idaho, the son of Artimus Crusoe Pritchett and Loretta Belle Tobias. His mother died when he was six years old and, after several years of living in extreme financial hardship conditions, he and two of his siblings were placed in an orphanage. Fred was adopted by two very special people, Frank and Annie Thompson, who took him into their home, gave him their last name and raised him to manhood.
In October 1948 he married Ellen Alice Fackrell and, in doing so, became "Dad" to the three children she was raising - Darla Dee, Dorothy Nell, and Jerald Ross. Fred and Alice later adopted these children, whom they raised in American Falls. In July 1978 Fred and Alice's marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, and eventually all three of their children were sealed to them. Alice passed away in April of 1991, leaving a big, big hole in Fred's life. That hole was filled when he married Leona Neal, who helped him so enjoy his last 15 years of life. Her laughter, her beautiful singing voice, and her zest for life were balm to his broken heart, and he loved her dearly.
Fred is survived by his wife (Leona), his three children (Darla, Dorothy and Ross), his step-children (Ron, Nancy, Carol, Gary and Jerry), and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister (Verna), a brother (Roy), and a very special new member of the family (Donald). Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife (Alice), and two brothers, (Tom and Ernie).
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 30th at the LDS Stake Center, 111 Church Place, American Falls, Idaho. An additional viewing will be held at that same location from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31 st, with the funeral taking place at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Falls View Cemetery in American Falls, under the direction of the Rose-Davis Mortuary.
The family wishes to extend heart-felt thanks and appreciation for the years of loving care, friendship, and genuine human kindness to Caroline Thomson and her husband, Gary. Not all of the angels are on the other side of the veil…
