Michael Celeski, Chief of Police of Dearborn, Michigan, entered eternal life on Sunday, July 27, 2008, of an apparent heart attack. He was 49 years old. He was born in Dearborn on September 28, 1958, and was a life long resident of the city. He spent his entire career with the Dearborn Police.

Michael graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1979. Shortly after graduating, he became a cadet with the Dearborn Police, where he spent nearly 30 years serving his community. He loved Dearborn, and his priorities were to keep the city safe. His career was marked by innovative efforts. As head of the narcotics bureau, Michael executed 50 search warrants against drug operations and other illegal businesses. He also led an initiative targeting auto thefts and instituted the discount "kill switch" program for Dearborn's car owners.

Mchael was known to take interest in community organizations and took a particular interest in the Dearborn Animal Shelter. The chief looked out for the organization from his police post, and brought in his family after hours to feed the animals.

Michael was the loving husband of Corky; dearest father of Cory, Calli and Keegan; loving son of Irene and the late George; dear brother of Don (Jan); dear son-in-law of Dolores and the late Stan Twardzicki; brother-in-law of Debby (Randy) Baugh. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephew.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from 2-9 pm and Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 12-9 pm at the Dearborn Chapel of the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home, 22546 Michigan Ave.

Funeral Mass: Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, (Michigan & Military). Instate 9:00 am until time of Mass.
