John George Snyder, whose parents were John Nelson and Mary Jane Snyder, was born in Belleville, Ill., on June 25, 1875. After many years of poor health, he passed away at his home northeast of Belleville, Kan., on Nov. 11, 1953, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 18 days.

At the age of 12, he moved with his parents to Belleville, Kan., where he graduated from high school and began working in a hardware store. Later he moved to a farm north and east of Belleville where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was married to Miss Hattie Gieber on December 11,1905. Three children came to complete their family; Hugh and Guy Snyder of Belleville and Mary Jane Byrd of Bennington.

Mr. Snyder was a quiet unassuming man, devoted to his family and enjoying the friendship of his children, grandchildren, and neighbors. He was a member of the Woodman Lodge and in earlier years was active in the Christian church.

His survivors are his wife and children, and three grandchildren, Duane Snyder of El Centro, Cal., Marvin Snyder of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Carolyn Kay Byrd of Bennington. Also a great-grandson, Stephen Hugh, son of Duane and Donna Snyder of El Centro, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Colville of Belleville and Mrs. Daisy Fraser of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. James Gray at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart chapel in Belleville November 13. Burial was in Belleville cemetery.
