Mrs Elsensohn Taken by Death
Mrs Paulina Elsensohn, 63, of 734 13th st. who came to the United States as a bride from Austria., died yesterday morning at 11:45 at her home at 734 13th St. She had been in failing health for the last six months. She was born Paulina Vogel at Lustenau, Austria Dec. 7,1891. She married Josef Anton Elsensohn at Dornbirn, Austria Oct 30,1911. One week after their marriage, Mr and Mrs Elsensohn left their native land for the United States to make their new home. They set out for Lewiston and visited at New York, Chicago and in Iowa on their way to the far west.
Mr and Mrs. Elsensohn homesteaded a farm at Peola for ten years and then came to Clarkston where they have since made their home.
Survivors besides her husband are three sons, Pirmin and Richard Elsensohn, both of Clarkston. Oscar Elsensohn of Lewiston, and four daughters Mrs Elsie Bishop, and Mrs Hilda Woodruff both of Clarkston, Mrs Marie Campeau of Bremerton and Joan Elsensohn of Clarkston. Other survivors are one brother Louis Messerle of Dornbirn, Austria.
The body is at Merchant Funeral Home with funeral arrangements pending.

Elsensohn Rites Set
Rosary for Mrs. Pauline Elsensohn, wife of Josef A. Elsensohn, will be recited tommorow night at 7 at Merchant chapel. Requim Mass will be celebrated Monday morning at 9 at Clarkston Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rev Fr. Arthur Joda will officiate and burial will be at Vineland Cemetery.

Requim Mass Celebrated for Mrs. Elsensohn
Requim mass for Mrs. Pauline Elsensohn, wife of Josef Elsensohn was celebrated yesterday morning at Clarkston Holy Family Catholic church, with the Rev. Fr. Arthur Joda pastor of the church officiating.
Active Pallbearers were Joe Schneider, Fritz Olson, Ben Bieren, Oliver Brodock, Adolph Grim and Harold Yochum. Honorary Pallbearers were John Yochum,Joe Yochum, Chris Wolf, Frank Wolf, Ed Yochum and Isadore Yochum. Burial was at Vineland Cemetery.

Paulina was born 07 December 1891 at Lustenau, Austria , she was illigitimate, her real father was a Dr. Bishoff. Her mother Sigfreda Vogel, later married a Mr. Messerle and they had a son Aloes born April 12,1910
09-07-2007 Vicki Bishop called Harold Balter to let him know that Paulina's father was a doctor Bishoff. Dr Fidel Elsensohn had know him and he said that paulina had worked for him .

Josef and Paulina sailed from Antwerp, Belgium October 30,1911, arrived at New York on November 22,1911 aboard the ship "Vaderland", when Joseph was 26 & Paulina was 20 years 10 months old.
The "Vaderland" was torpedoed in the Agean Sea on September 02,1915 but was salvaged and repaired. Chartered by White Star and Dominion Lines in 1916. Torpedoed and sunk by a German submarine off the Irish coast on June 04,1917.

One week after they were married they traveled to the USA to make their new home. They set out for Lewiston, Idaho and visited at New York, Chicago and in Iowa on their way to the far West. Mr and Mrs Elsensohn homesteaded a farm at Peola, Asotin County, Washington for 10 years before moving to Clarkston, Washington. Paulina had a brother in Dornbirn , Austria Louis (Alois) Messerli who survived after Paulina passed on.
