Services for James Wiley Riggs, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Griffin Funeral Home chapel with Leroy Holman officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Born on Dec. 18, 1928, in Ardmore, to Samuel Albert and Virginia Pearl Stinson Riggs, he went to be with his Lord on Jan. 9, 2006, at the local hospital. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Albert Riggs; sisters, Mary Lovell, Betty Jo Howard and Sandra Flanagan.

He served in the Navy four years during World War II and eight years in the National Guard. He retired from OG&E in October of 1987 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Pioneer Club, OG&E bowling league and was a member of Volunteer Income Tax Association for 11 years.

He and Edna Florene Elliott were married on March 7, 1949, in Wichita Falls, Texas. James was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a big OU fan.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Bobby Gene Riggs and wife, Mary, Ardmore; daughter, Betty Jo Taliaferro and husband, John, Lone Grove; grandchildren, Julie Wright, Lewis John Taliaferro, and James David Riggs; and three great-grandchildren, Johnathan Wright, Lea Wright, and Victoria Riggs; numerous nieces and nephews.
