James O. (Jimmy) Arnold, 81, died Friday Feb. 29, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He graduated from Wheeler High School and Mississippi State University. He was an avid sportman, a former teacher, administrator and basketball coach at Duck Hill and he retired from teaching at Baldwyn School District after searving over 27 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and served in Germany.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro.Billy Glover and Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in the Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Alice Walden Arnold of Baldwyn; one daugther, Jamie Van Dekel (Hans) of Chesapeake, Va; one sister, Jane Phillips (Max) of Booneville; one sister-in-law, Ordean Arnold of Baldwyn; two grandchildren, Matthew and Gregory Van Dekel; seven nices and nephews, Liz Phillips (Ronnie), Ken Goodwin (Theresa) Bill Stennett, Rick Stennett (Kristin), Beth Patterson (Roger), Kay Freeman (Glen) and John Walden (Sharon).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Dora Arnold; a brother, Richard Arnold; and a niece, Pam Arnold.

Pallbearers will be Harold Rogers, Jack Hamblin, Leland Roberts, Buddy Wardlaw, Billy Glover, Charles Ray Rowan and Max Phillips.



Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Baldwyn.
