Jane Arnold Phillips, 81, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016, at Landmark Nursing Home in Booneville. She was born January 25, 1935, to Harrison and Dora Arnold. Mrs. Phillips received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from The University of Mississippi. She remained a loyal Ole Miss Rebel fan all of her life. Mrs. Phillips worked in the field of education for over 40 years, with almost all of those years devoted to teaching four and five-year-olds. She has impacted hundreds of young lives in the course of her career, which started with a private kindergarten in the living room of her home and ended with a number of years in the public school arena at Thrasher Elementary School. Mrs. Phillips was devoted to her Lord and her church family, and she spent many years teaching her beloved Rebekah Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Natchez Trace Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and thoroughly enjoyed researching her family's history. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed reading, sewing and crafting, crossword puzzles, and birdwatching, but the loves of her life were her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She spent countless hours following all of their many activities and praying them through each day.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 Monday, November 14, 2016, at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville. Services will be held Tuesday, November 15th at 1:00 at the First Baptist Church in Booneville with Dr. Lynn Jones officiating. Burial will be at Prentiss Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Harrison and Dora Owens Arnold, and her brothers, Jimmy and Richard Arnold.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Max Phillips; one son, Dr. Ken Goodwin (Teresa) of Booneville; and one daughter, Liz Phillips (Ronnie) of Oxford. Her grandchildren are Wesley Goodwin (Erin) of Nashville, Leslie McCormick (Jason) of Oxford, Anna Kate Stone (Eli) of Thompson's Station, TN, Caroline Goodwin, and Connor Goodwin, both of Booneville, and, finally, the greats, Lane Henry McCormick of Oxford and Audrey Carroll Goodwin of Nashville.

Honorary pallbearers are her precious friends, the members of the Rebekah Sunday School Class.
