Obadiah was an early settler in Dekalb County, Tennessee (originally Smith Co). He would have been 26 years old when counted in the 1820 Smith County Census. We know that he was a farmer. He and his wife, Elizabeth "Betsey" Calling West (born in Maryland) had a large family of eight children. They are my 2nd great, grandparents and I wish to honor them as beloved ancestors by placing some of the information I have gathered about them. They lived and died near Liberty, Tennessee on what is now the property of Robert Robinson. On 23 April 2013 two cousins and I visited with Mr. Robinson and he was very gracious to take us to the burial site. On a hillside on his farm, west of Liberty, Dekalb County, Tennessee there is a beautiful area under some trees, were Obediah and Elizaberth are buried. The stones read: "OBEDIAH M. GARRISON BORN JULY 25, 1794 DIED AUG. 20, 1862"
His wifes stone reads: "ELIZABETH C. GARRISON BORN JUNE 12, 1792 DIED JUNE 5, 1862"

Gravesite Details

This is a beautiful site on the Robert Robinson farm, west of Liberty, Tennessee off of Robinson Road.. Both markers are in good condition. After working on the stone the lettering came up very clearly and the picture turned out beautifully..
