Margie Lee Beam, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 29, 2012 following a short illness. Margie was born in Lincoln Co, August 26, 1923 to the late Charles and Lula Mae (Hallman) Wehunt.
Margie is survived by four children, Brad Beam, Carlotta Smith, Darnell Spady (husband, Jack), Belva Crowe all of Gastonia; six grandchildren, Todd Heavner, Rhonda Colvard, Shannon Boylynn (wife, Tina), Shelley Mayberry (husband, Jimmy), Chris Jolly and Jake Beam; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Beam, brother, Hillard Wehunt and sister, Helen Mauney.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2012 at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia. Dr. Kent Cranford and Dr. Warner Doles will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cherryville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1 at the funeral home.
