WILLIAM H BARRON DEAD
He Was Closely Identified With Our Commercial Life And Was A Man Of High Moral Standards
Tuolumne county has sustained a grievous loss in the death of William Henry Barron who passed away at his home in Soulsbyville last Monday morning at the age of 64 years.
The deceased was a native of Cornwall, England and came to Soulsbyville in 1866. Thence he went to Amador and Placer counties and in '68 established a store at Confidence where success attended his venture. Three years later he permanently settled in Soulsbyville where he has ever since conducted a general merchandise business. Some years ago he became vice-president of the Tuolumne County Bank and when, subsequently this institution became amalgamated with the First National he was made a director of both banks, a position he filled with zeal and ability until his death. In politics he was ofr many years identified with the cause of prohibition.
His death leaves in sorrow - the first sorrow he ever caused them - his widow and a son, Garnet Barron.
The funeral, which took place Wednesday, was one of the most imposing ever seen in the county. From the old home and the sad cortege proceeded to the Soulsbyville Methodist church and the immense concourse of sorrowing friends from all parts of the county [unreadable]
