This is my maternal great-grandfather.

I will add a better bio in the future.

He was the husband of Vasiliki D. Loumbas Maniates and they had 13 children.

They were married around 1901 in Argos, Greece, and had their first eight children in Argos and Corinth, Greece. Sadly, five of their children died in infancy, it's been said that they were all girls.

A year after Demetrios emigrated to Chicago, Illinois, Vasiliki and their remaining three children--the youngest being my grandmother, Lula, age 3--joined him here and settled on Chicago's South Side in a house on 48th. Street.

Demetrios and Vasiliki had five more children--all of which lived to adulthood--for a total of 8 daughters and 5 sons. There was 18 years between their eldest and youngest children!

The family attended St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Oak Lawn, IL.

His children that lived to adulthood were: Sophie Coulos, John Maniates, Lula Panagopulos, Louis, Peter, Andrew, Theodore, and Irene Maniates.

May he Rest in Peace.

I will add more complete biography soon...
