Fanny Forrest was born on July 13, 1821 in Chapel Hill, Bedford County, Tennessee. She had a twin brother, Nathan Bedford Forrest.
She moved with her family to Tippah County, Mississippi in 1834 and died from typhoid fever along with her sisters Mary and Millie, as well as her brother Isaac, in 1841.

She is buried in New Bethlehem Church Cemetery, Horn Lake, DeSoto, Mississippi - originally without a grave marker, but a memorial marker was placed later.
