John L. Slagle
Age 76 of Chestertown, MD, formerly of St. Georges DE, died July 18, 2008, in Chestertown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Slagle was born on May 14, 1932 and raised in Quaker Neck, son of the late Charles and Catherine Dickerson Slagle. He served with the Army's 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. Mr. Slagle had worked as a truck driver with Amoco Chemical in New Castle, DE, for over 20 years, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, bluegrass music and being outdoors with his dogs.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles and Preston Slagle; a sister, Alice Crouch and a step-son, Steven King. He is survived by 2 children, Paula Bennett and Wayne Slagle both of St. Georges, DE; 2 step-sons, Dennis King of Columbia, SC and Alan King of Leesburg, VA; a sister, Thelma Legg of Chestertown, MD; 3 grandchildren and devoted companion, Doris Corrigan of Still Pond.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 11 am, in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.
Memorials may be offered to the Humane Society of Kent County, 10720 Augustine Herman Hwy., Chestertown, MD, 21620.
