Son of William Oscar Gowen & Lula (Palmer) Gowen Husband of Wanda Lee Ruth Parsley, married on 5 June 1937 in Walters, Oklahoma They had five girls; Betty, Joyce, Gaye, Judy and Connie. They spent most of their years around Lebanon, Oregon. Red worked in a lumber mill until he took an early retirement due to a potential aneurysm.
He was a hard worker with a good work ethic, and it was important to him to provide for his family. Wanda and Red were divorced for a couple of years, remarried, and then divorced again. Wanda died from breast cancer and her ashes were scattered over the Columbia River that separates Oregon & Washington.
