John Smith "Johnny" Chandler was born December 1, 1894, in Wilson County, Texas, to James Edward Chandler and Alice "Ankie" Smith. He stood 5ft 6in tall, had blue eyes, brown hair and a light complexion. He was married to Margie Jane Jackson in about 1915. They had four children, Johnny S, Arthur W, Darline and James Edward. Johnny was a brand inspector in Pecos, Reeves County, Texas He had been a farmer near Pandora, Wilson County, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER on December 27, 1917 and served thru February 19, 1919. In 1930, Johnny was again farming in Stockdale, Wilson County. John Smith Chandler died April 29, 1973 in Austin, Travis County, Texas He was buried in the White Rock Cemetery in Bee Cave, Austin, Travis County, Texas.
