YOAKUM — The Rev. W. B. "Bill" Chandler, 76, of Yoakum died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1992.

Rev. Chandler was born March 22, 1916, in Stockdale to the late Johnnie S. and Margie Jane Jackson Chandler. He was a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and married the former Zelma Williams on May 2, 1937, in Yoakum. He ministered for the Austin St. Baptist Church and the Bible Baptist Church in Yoakum, in Pocatello, Idaho, and in many Texas cities.

He retired from the ministry in 1990 and later became a licensed real estate agent for KJ's Realty in Yoakum. He was formerly a pipefitter, a general contractor and a rancher.

Survivors: wife, Zelma Chandler; daughter, Doris Day of Houston; sons, Joe H. Chandler of Yoakum and Billy D. Chandler of Victoria; sister, Darlene Neidhert of Edinburg; brothers, Edward Chandler of Orange, Author Wayne Chandler of Australia and Jimmy Chandler of Huffman; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Sue Chandler.

Services 3 p.m. Saturday at the Buffington Funeral Home chapel, Bill Walden and the Rev. W.J. Clements officiating.

Burial in County Line Cemetery, Buffington Funeral Home, Yoakum, 293-2333.
