Mr. John Joseph Ellison died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus. John Joseph Ellison was born February 9, 1927, in St. Patrick, Missouri, a son of Paul William and Agnes Elizabeth (Kirchner) Ellison. He proudly served our country in the Korean War serving as a Sergeant 1st Class in the United States Army. He was employed by ALOCA, retiring after 40 years of service. He was a very hard worker, and had a tremendous work ethic. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the John Ellison Memorial Trust which will be gifted to the Association for Retarded Citizens Rock Island County, Respite Center. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Cindy and Dave Franklin, Bettendorf, Joe Ellison, Molie, Pam and Bob Engstrom, Hampton, Ill., and Paul Ellison, Moline; grandchildren, Jason and Nick Franklin, Jennifer Pridie and Lindsey Ellison, and Monica Chiarelli and Daniel Engstrom; two great-grandchildren, Carson Pridie and Bobby Chiarelli. He is also survived by his siblings, George Earl Ellison, Bobby Gene Ellison, Rita Kirchner, and Dorothy Stuckwisch. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Paul Ellison and Ladene McAndrews. May they rest in peace. Funeral services for John J. Ellison, 81, a resident of Davenport, was Friday, June 20, 2008 in the All Faith Chapel at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Rock Isalnd Arsenal with military honors provided by the American Legon Post 26.
