Enlisted on 20 August 1861 , transfered on 01 Sept 1861 from company H to company K, NY infantry, mustered out 12 Sept 1864 in New York, NY with Distinguished Service. File card lists Talbot, George Co.A 8 Ohio Infantry, Private.
On 07 Oct. 1865 George Talbot received his citizenship, having served in the army of the United States by the Court in Ohio.

Geo. Talbut, a resident of Green Creek township, died on the 18th inst. of cancer. Mr. Talbot had served faithfully in the old 49 O.V.I. under Gen. Gibson, and the boys of that regiment will regret to hear of his death.
