Alice Thayne Ward, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep July 31, 1997 in her home.
She was born to LeRoy and Annie Thayne in Salt Lake City, Utah, on October 11, 1922. She married George L. Ward, February 4, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. She loved her family and loved to help people. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She graduated from West High School and LDS Business College. She was a secretary of Edison School, worked at ZCMI and volunteered at LDS Hospital. She served in numerous callings in the LDS Church and influenced many, because of her love for the gospel. She was a noble woman of boundless energy and blessed all who knew her.
Alice is survived by her husband, George L. Ward, one daughter and four sons; Shannon (Thom) Schiffgen, Sandy, UT; Scott A. (Carol) Ward, Taylorsville, UT; Stacey T. (Angelia) Ward, Kearns, UT; Kevin L. Ward, Salt Lake City, UT; and Kelly D. (Annette) Ward, Sandy, UT. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, one currently serving a LDS mission. She was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Thayne, and a son, Steven L. Ward.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, Aug. 4, 1997 at 12 p.m. in the Cannon 3rd Ward Chapel, 1301 So. 1200 West, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the Deseret Memorial Mortuary, 36 East 700 So., Salt Lake City and one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment will be in the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
