James Oscar Estes, 77, died Thursday after an extended illness. He was born in Alabama, had lived most of his life in Nettleton, was a painting contractor and a member of the Nettleton Pentecostal Church. Services were held at the Nettleton Pentecostal Church with the Rev. G. H. Hill officiating. Burial was in the Lee Memorial Park. McGrath-Rasberry Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jessie Adams Estes of Nettleton; two sons, Bobby Estes of Nettleton and Pete Estes of Jacksonville, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Ramage of Verona; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Morgan and Mrs. Nola Smith, both of Nettleton; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Phil Johnson, Kirby Johnson, Dalton Smith, Marlin Smith, Eugene Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Carlos Sullivan, and Sammy Sullivan.
The body lay in state at Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton until time for services.
