TUPELO – Helen Frances Estes Ramage, 80, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at her residence in Tupelo after an extended illness. Helen was born in Lee County on July 20, l932, to James Oscar and Jessie Bell Adams Estes. She graduated from Nettleton High School and Draughon's Business School in Memphis and later graduated from Tupelo Beauty School. She married Martis D. "Buddy" Ramage Sr. on Oct. 1, 1954, a union which lasted 56 years until his death. A longtime beautician, she later retired from Lee County School System.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother and a very special aunt. She enjoyed socializing, eating out and attending special functions with her husband, Buddy, and son, Marty, and friends, cooking and taking care of her rose gardens. An avid Ole Miss fan, she reveled in the outstanding careers of her late husband, Martis D. Ramage Sr., in his 44 years serving the public school children of Nettleton and Lee County and her son, Martis D. "Marty" Ramage Jr. in his distinguished career in banking with Renasant Bank. She was a longtime attendee of the First Christian Church in Tupelo. Helen is our Christmas Angel now and we rejoice in her victory!

All services celebrating her life are private at the request of the family. Expressions of condolences may be emailed to [email protected] for the benefit of the family. Holland Funeral Directors is entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include her brother, Bobby Estes and his wife, Janie, of Tupelo; her nieces, Gyl Elaine Estes of Tupelo, Debbie Estes Wiggins and Linda Williams, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Angie Ramage and Beth Ramage Snider, both of Tupelo; nephews, Randy Ramage of Tupelo and Jimmy Ramage.; her extended Estes, Ramage, Westmoreland and Adams families; and her beloved caregivers, Sylvia Lipford, Amanda Benson, Mary Garrett, Stephanie Barnett, Brenda Barnes and the excellent staff of Hospice Advantage.
