DENEEN – Bessie (Kirchner), 88, of Cairnbrook, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Bessie was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Hyndman, and was the daughter of William and Martha (Miller) Kirchner. She was preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Clyde; sisters, Rose Deneen, Lily Kirchner, Violet Stahlman, Bertha Logsdon, Flora White and Nettie Kennell; and brother, John Kirchner. She was the last member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter, Nancy Lee, wife of Daniel Barta; granddaughters, Jessie, wife of Allen Barnes, Laura Kohan and Apryle Barta; nieces, Jean Derby and Shirley Hennington, who both Bessie and Clyde helped to raise; and many other nieces and nephews. Bessie lived a full and productive life in which she gave much and asked for little, offering love and friendship to all who came into it. She was a member of Graef Lutheran Church for 58 years, where she performed her duties as a representative of the altar guild along with her friend, Anne Turko. Besides always making herself available to others with a ready ear, an open heart and an inviting home, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking for her friends and family and her buddy, Boo. She will be missed by many. Family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Mulcahy Funeral Home, Central City. On Sunday, July 13, her body will lie in state from 1:30 until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Graef Lutheran Church with dinner following, Pastor Bob Way officiating. Graveside service will be held at Hyndman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, Pa.
