She married Kay C. Payne on Dec. 16, 1944, in Lafayette. They originated flea markets at the fairgrounds in 1978 and owned and operated Payne's Antiques on Main Street and the Frost Top root beer stand on U.S. 52. She was also a former accountant for Montgomery Ward and a real estate agent for the Lux Agency. Mr. Payne died April 25, 2000.
Mrs. Payne was a former member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lana Kay Rankin (husband: David Tom), a brother, Herb Anderson (wife: Irene) and a sister, Dorothy Sense, all of Lafayette.
She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and also survived by one grandson, Kevin Traeger, and one great-granddaughter, Mekensie Traeger. Preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Baumgaertel and Alice Adams.
