MULBERRY - Ruth Eva Anderson Baumgaertel, 91, died at 7:10 PM Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community, where she had resided since September 2004. Born July 30, 1913, in Lafayette, she was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She married the Rev. Henry F. Baumgaertel on Sept. 14, 1941, and he survives.
Mrs. Baumgaertel was a homemaker, and was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. She was involved in many church organizations in addition to running Sunday school programs, writing book reviews and music, and playing piano. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Surviving with her husband are a son, Henry F. "Rusty" (wife Lorna) Baumgaertel, III of Des Plaines, IL; a brother, Herb (wife Irene) Anderson of Lafayette; three sisters, Dorothy Sense, Alice Anderson, and Elda Payne, all of Lafayette; two grandsons; also several nieces, a nephew, and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas C. Baumgaertel.
