PETE ALLFORD, GALENA
RESIDENT 71-YEARS, DIES
Galena, Kan., Oct. 21 - Henry L. (Pete) Allford, 77 years old, died at 6:55 o'clock this morning at his home, 2020 Galena avenue, following a four months' illness. He had lived in Galena 71 years.
Mr. Allford was born in Granby, Mo., and came to Galena when he was 6 years old. He had lived here since. He was an early-day miner and had prospected in this district all of his working life. He was a member of the Spring Grove church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Bailey and Mrs. Neva Garrison of Galena and Mrs. Frances Kersh of Joplin; a sister, Mrs, Jennie Cleveland of Peru, Kan.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Spring Grove mission. The Rev. Harry Shallenburger will officiate, assisted by the Rev. S. D. Gibson. Burial will be Oak Hill cemetery under direction of the Derfelt funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Rogers, Paul Hardwick, Harry Russell, Earl Carrier, Charles Comer and Bill Howell.
