Adam Kutcher was born in Mannheim, Germany, on November 2 1849. He came to America when he was about 15 years old. He was reared and confirmed in the Evangelical Church of which he has been a faithful member all of his life. He was confirmed on March 29, 1863. On September 18 1872, he was united in marriage with Magdalena Hall who proceded him in death almost 15 years ago, on May 17, 1912. To the union 10 children were born, six daughters and four sons. Three daughters and one son proceded the father in death. Three children, Minnie, Barbara, and Harry died with in one week in the year 1895 and a daughter, Mrs. Phoebe Thews died in 1922.
The departed had been in poor health for some time and after an Illness of one month departed this life at his home one and one-half miles south of Kahoka, on Sunday evening, January 16, 1927, at 10:30 in the evening, at the age of 77 years, 2 months, and 14 days. He is Survived by the following six children: John of Farmington, Iowa; Adam of Antiock, Mo.; Charles of Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Applegate; Mrs. Katherine Wright; Mrs Margaret Wright all of Kahoka. He also leaves 28 grandchldren, 9 great grandchildren, and one brother Jacob Kutcher of Macomb, Ill. Also other relatives and a host of friends and acquaintances.
The funeral was held from his late residence on Wedneday, January 19, to St.Paul's Evangelical Church of which he was a member for many years. Interment took place in St. Paul's Cemetery.
