Inscription by Mary on back of photo: "Sasakwa, Okla. 3 mi west to Mission Cemetery. Sasakwa was once a nice little town. Depot, bank & several shopping centers & drugstore. Nice Rooming house. Now most everything torn down what didn't burn down. A lot of dwelling homes. Once stood Dr. office, Milles & Dr Weeden. Which now has been torn down or moved away. Since the years have passed, long & gone. Nothing left of the town. Not a Depot now. Freight Trains runs through the once town, no stop, no passengers. Looks lonely & deserted. Dr Milles & Weeden are both now dead. Weeden gave her up, said she couldn't live, Then Dr Milles takin over did what he could. There was no medicine to cure TB & all the other ailments she complained with. (her mother, Martha Carter) "The picture of the little Depot brings back many memories, where we use to sit wait for trains to take her & me to see our loved ones. those days were happy ones which now I only see a torn up world filled with loneliness & life filled with sorrow hurt & selfishness. What does the future hold for our young generation? I'm all alone now. My husband been gone almost 5 years. I do not know which way to turn to search for love & understanding."

Back of photo inscribed by Mary, "Blue Ridge School house & Church House, also was used. The place where I use to go to church & Sunday School many years ago - back in 1908 I was 7 years old then. This picture was taken in 1941. The day I wondered back to the now old, once a school & church building. Which still stands. A lonely grave yard close by. Friends & loved ones who are still sleeping beneath the cold clay. Blue Ridge cememtery. My school chums & I use to clean up the cemetery on a memorial day at the end of school. & now some of them have been laid to rest. Most the time weeds & grass take advantage of the graves. My age is creeping up on me. I guess I'll soon be going, along with the rest, who have gone on. My Folks & loved ones, are drifters far away, scattered & buried in 5 different cemeteries. Where shall I go?"
