Mary A. Bass, daughter of the late Bert Battles and Leona Ross Battles, was born on Aug. 18, 1913. in Armorel, Ark. and died at her residence in Dudley on July 7, 2008, at the age of 94.
Mrs. Bass was affiliated with the Dudley Church of God in Dudley, past owner and operator of Bass's Grocery in Dudley for over 20 years, and a home-maker.
On Sept. 24, 1927 she was united in marriage to John Thomas Bass in Blytheville, Ark. Mr. Bass preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1986.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Bass of Arnold; three daughters, Margie Robbins of Arnold, Virginia West of Steele, and Barbara Jarrell of Dudley; one brother, Freddy Battles of Victory, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren; also by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers; one sister; and one grandson.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 4:30 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 9, 2008.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday July 10, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Jerry Metcalf officiating.
Interment will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
