GALENA - Bessie E. Miller, 93, of Galena, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at Emerald Pointe Nursing Home, Galena, following an illness.

She was born March 1, 1913, at Kellyville, Okla., to Preston R. and Maggie Mae (Smith) Hamilton. She lived in this area all of her life, and had lived in Galena for the past 60 years.

She was a homemaker. Several years ago, she had worked as a nurse aide for Dr. Jones in Galena. She had also been a reporter for the Galena Sentinel Times writing a weekly article entitled Spring Grove News.

She was married to Henry R. "Jake" Miller on Sept 3, 1938, in Galena, Mo. He preceded her in death on Oct 20, 1982.

She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

She was of the Christian faith.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena.
