Alma G. Wert, 91, of Howard, died Oct. 12, 2004 at 10:10 p.m. Born Sept. 19, 1913 in Centre County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Edna Heverly. Alma was married to Ernest Wert who preceded her in death March 26, 1997. They were married 63 years. Alma is survived by five daughters, Janet Blair and Doris Smith and her husband, Robert, both of Howard, Elva McCormick of Albany, N.Y., Helen Watson and her husband, Dennis, of Moshannon, Carol Williams and her husband Ernest, of Julian; a son, Lynn Wert and his wife, Joyce, of Howard; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Alma also had seven sisters and three brothers: the late Dorothy Baldwin, Hazel Campbell, Celia Pletcher, Ellen Heverly, Pearl Harris and brothers Glenn and Floyd Heverly. Surviving are sisters: Ethel Mishoe of New Port, Va., Viola Pifer of Centre Hall and brother, Lee Heverly of Romola. A great-grandchild, Lacy Nicole, preceded her in death. Alma enjoyed being with people. She enjoyed her family and visiting friends. She was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. She was a member of the Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church and taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. Alma attended Howard High School and graduated from Messiah Bible College in Camp Hill. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard. Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Missionary Jim Miller officiating. Burial is at Schencks Cemetery, Howard.
