Carl Eugene Jr.; Margherita Ligon; and James Robin.
Commander, USNR in World War II; Chairman of the Board, Emeritus of Escambia County Bank of Flomaton; President of Taslog Inc.; General Partner of Taslog Ltd.; and a tree farmer. Was one of the three people responsible for perpetual care of Flomaton Cemetery. See marker at entrance to Cemetery.
During WW II was USS Long Island
Youngest squadron skipper in WWII. Long Island was first merchant marine freighters to be converted to carrier. (aircraft) Patrolled in Atlantic looking for submarines. Lt CDR.
Graduate at age 15 from Uof FL and then to PNAS as Aviation Cadet in 4 yr. progam. Was an instructor on USS Ranger. Carl stayed in service at PNAS as Aviation Cadet in 4 yr progam. All of speech professors loved his accent. He went to Auburn (to get a few credits to get into , Cornell, Univ of Mich, in summer schools.
Drove a car at age 4.
Was the youngest commanding officer of a squadron in WWII. Served on the aircraft carrier, the Card.
Is refered to in 1943 November National Geographic, but not by name, as the expert flyer who landed Grosvenor(the author of the National Geographic Article) on the aircraft carrier.
