Mr. Luther Billy Day age 77 of Waycross died Saturday morning at his residence following an extended illness.
He was a native of Berrien County but had lived in Ware County since 1952.
He was preceded in death by his parents W.E. "Bill" Day and Nadell Jones Day, 2 sons Jimmy Day and Eric Day, 2 grandsons Justin and Jason Day, and a brother Tuten Day.
Mr. Day owned and operated Day Heating and Air Conditioning in Waycross for 40 years. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He was a member of the Frank C. Folks Lodge 305 and Waycross Shrine Club.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Carolyn Day of Waycross, daughter Gail Wiley of Blackshear, 2 sons Darrell Day wife Evie of Blackshear, and David Day of Waycross, 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, a brother Smokey Day wife Diane of Nashville, Ga, a sister Dorothy Piazza husband Steve of Statesboro, Ga., and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 11am Tuesday in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ben James Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home.
