Silverio Trujillo, 81, of Waco, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence Soler officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel.

Silverio was born in Driscoll, Texas, to the late Jose and Juanita Trujillo. He married Delia Sanchez on November 19, 1950. He raised his family first in Dallas and because of his career, moved his family to Waco where he continued to work at El Chico Restaurant for many years. In 1979, he opened his first restaurant, El Nopal Restaurant and soon after that he opened Trujillo's Comedor y Cantina at the Circle. He was an inspiration to all he came in contact with, be it his family, friends or his employees. He set an example of excellence in his work ethic not only for his many employees but for all his children. Many of his current and former employees say that Mr. T (as all employees called him) taught them the standards for good work ethics and to this day, continue to carry on his teachings. He "officially" retired in 1992 but retirement could not keep him away from the family business. He continued to make his presence known and will be greatly missed by all his long-time employees and most of all by his many loyal customers. Silverio was a good-hearted person. Many of his friendships with his customers began years ago and still continue to this day. His greatest pleasures in life were traveling with his wife and cooking those Sunday brunches for his entire family. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, good ranchera music, his close friends and most of all his daughters.

He is survived by his wife, Delia, of Waco; daughters, Rose Mary Rangel and husband, Andrew, Irene Sanchez and Danny Marquez, Yolanda T.Chavez and Donnie Cleere, all of Waco, Janie Lopez and husband, Vincent Jr. and Delia Trujillo and Paul Fraga, of Robinson; grandchildren, Christy Watley, Christopher Rangel, Shay Rocha, Michelle Jimenez, Erica Contreras, Crystal Contreras, Zina Sanchez, Brandon Casarez, Brittany Chavez, Desiree Davila, John-Alex Lopez, Daylon Lopez and Daniel Ray Trujillo Villafana; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Angelita Leos and husband, Armando, Felipa Morones and husband, Johnny, Fela Gonzalez and husband, Pete, all of Dallas; brothers, Jose Trujillo, Roberto Trujillo and wife, Sandy, Gualberto Trujillo, Faustino Trujillo and wife, Frances, all of Dallas, and Juan Trujillo and wife, Martha, of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
