Cancer of the Liver Has Brought on Her Passing Away Occurring At Her Home Sunday
Wednesday morning at ten o'clock the burial service for the deceased Mrs. Arnold Seelen was held in St. Joseph's church in this village after which the remains were laid to rest in the local cemetery.
Mrs. Seelen had been a sufferer of a dreaded disease, cancer of liver for a long time. Her trouble became very severe last January without a very little improvement for three months and death overtook her life Sunday evening at 11 o'clock.
Barbara Ziegler was born in Bavaria, October 1, 1872, and had attained the age of 58 years last October. When she was 17 years of age her parents came to America to settle at Sioux Falls, S.D. Her marriage to Arnold Seelen occurred at Beresford, S.D., Janaury 22, 1895. For a time Mr. and Mrs. Seelen resided at Bereford then at Parkston and in 1915 the Seelen family came to their present place about four miles west of Pierz.
Her husband and the following children survive: Christ Seelen of Little Falls, Mrs. John Korsten of Detroit, Michigan, Hubert of Early, Ia., Mrs. Gust Otremba of St. Cloud, Leona, Elizabeth, Kuny, Florence, Joe, William and George at home. A brother, Christ Ziegler resides at Lyman, S.D.
