RICHARD "Dick" DAVID UNDERWOOD, SR., age 92 of Gainesville passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Gainesville Health Care Center. He moved to Gainesville from Palatka 80 years ago. He was a retired Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church, Gainesville Bowling Association & Industrial Bowling League for many years and wrote and sang Christian music.
He is survived by his wife, June Marie Underwood, Gainesville, one daughter, Alfarata Marie Thompson, Gainesville, two sons, Richard David "Dickie" Underwood, Jr., Gainesville and Dennis "Patty" Underwood, Hawthorne, one brother, Thomas Underwood, McDonna, Ga, one sister, Viola Valentine, Orange, CA, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 am at Forest Meadows Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Thomas and Rev. Don Farley officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park-East. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Baptist Children's Home C/O Santa Fe Baptist Association, 2630 N W 39th Avenue, Gainesville, Fl 32605.
