Myrtle Estella Nickoles, daughter of Nelson and Elizabeth Nickoles was born on a farm near Shickley, Nebraska, November 14, 1886 and departed this life at the Nuckolls County Hospital January 17, 1974 at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 3 days.

She received her education in the Fillmore County schools and taught in the Strang, Shickley, Ong and Nora public schools for a number of years. On June 18, 1913 she was united in marriage to Archie C. Jones at Shickley, Nebraska. After managing a restaurant in Nora for 2 years they moved to the old home place Northwest of Nora where the three children, Winifred, Boyd and Dean, were born. In the spring of 1932 they moved to their residence East of Nora where she lived until her health failed in November of 1972.

On June 18, 1963, the observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary. She was a faithful member of the Nora United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, of which she received a life membership and was also a Charter Member of the Nora Extension Club. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher as long as she was able and served on the Nora School Board for any years.

She is survived by her two sons, Boyd of Edgar and Dean of Nora, two daughters-in-law; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; her daughter, Winifred; her parents and her sister, Mattie Walters.

Funeral services were held at the Nora United Methodist Church in Nora on Saturday, January 19, 1974. Pastor Maurice Holt officiated. Burial was in the Nora Cemetery. the Klawitter Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements.

Out of town relatives here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Myrtle Jones were Mrs. Irene Jones and Clyde Boersma of Loveland, Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Wright of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Hilton of Central City; Mr. and Mrs. Dickie Helzer, Ronnie and Roger of Omaha; Mrs. Richard Porter of Ames, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Don Adams of Araphoe (sic); Mr. and Mrs. Bud Owens of Edson, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Graver of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walters, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Walters and Eldon Walters all of Shickley; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Plouck, Mrs. Bess Leff of Carlton; Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Jones of Geneva; Harold Hauock of Strang; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hauock of Strang and Mrs. Bernice Jones of Edgar.
