Margaret Hill was born December 4, 1861 at French Lick, Orange County, Indiana. She remained single until age 48, always living with her parents. By 1880, the Hills were living in Grandview Twnp, Edgar County, Illinois. In 1893 the Hills went to Oklahoma to participate in the land run of the newly opened Cherokee Outlet (commonly referred to as the "Strip"). Eventually, the Hills set up their household near Kremlin, Garfield County, Oklahoma.

After the death of Margaret's sister Minnie, in 1908, Margaret married Minnie's widowed husband, Isaac Sherman Arnold in September 1909 at the age of 48. She raised Uncle Sherman's adopted daughter, Grace, but remained childless herself. They remained in the Enid, Oklahoma area for the rest of their lives and are buried in the Kremlin Cemetery.
