Maud married Joseph Erza Tarwater. They had two children; Elwin Earl Tarwater and Clarence Eugene Tarwater. They later divorced.
Private family services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Connolly & Taylor Chapel for Maud L Tarwater, a pioneer Martinez resident, who died Saturday at the County Hospital at the age of 91 after a short illness.
Mrs. Tarwater, who lived with her son Elwin Tarwater, at 1311 Willow St, had been active until she suffered a fall in late Jan. Born in Martinez Sept 14, 1877, she had spent her entire life in this community.
Mrs. Tarwater was one of the first telephone operators in Martinez when the central office was at the Souther Pacific Railway depot. She also worked as an assistant librarian at the Martinez Public Library during the 1920's and 1930's when the library building was located on Main St on the site now occupied by Bank of America.
Mrs. Tarwater is survived by her two sons, Clarence and Elwin Tarwater.
The service will be conducted by the Rev Harvey Swanson, pastor of the First Congregational Church. Cremation will follow at Memory Gardens, CO\oncord, CA.
