"One of the earliest settlers of Bacon Hill, NY. He has been spoken of as the "Saint of Bacon Hill". He had a wonderful sweetness of his voice, singing as he worked in his carpenter's shop. He had a fervent religious piety made a very strong impression on the inhabitants of the locality and held well attended religious meetings. However he also possessed a keen sense of humor. He had five daughters after all.
