He was over seventy-five years of age and had resided in Rollingstone about twenty years. The funeral will take place on Tuesday. The Winona Daily Republican, Monday Evening, Jan. 26, 1880

Michel was born 1804 in Heffingen, Luxembourg, to Joannis Nicolas Rivers and his wife, Anna Molitor. He married Marie Margaretha Adehm January 12, 1832 in Heffingen. Twelve children were born to this union. Two children died young. The family emigrated from Luxembourg in 1854. They arrived at the Port on New York May 22, 1854 on the ship Vulture.
