In her father's will, John Campbell, dated 1847, her husband J.H.D. Scobey is mentioned as follows:

Item. I give devise and bequeath to my son-in-law Hamilton D. H. Scoby believed to be of Bradley County Arkansas one bed and bedding necessary and appropriate thereto. Also one hundred dollars in money to be paid to him by my Executors hereinafter named and the bed and bedding delivered twelve months after my decease, to be for the sole use of himself, his heirs, Executors, Administrators and assigns.
