Funeral services for Henry Earl Kingsbury, 82, were held at the Jones and Casey Funeral Home. Mr. Kingsbury died in St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Montana on 5 June 1961. He was born 23 December 1878, in Centerville, Iowa, the son of George W. and Adelaide Mitchell Kingsbury. In 1902 the family started out with a wagon and saddle horses to make their way toward a new country. They went through Thermopolis, Wyoming and on to Blackfoot, Idaho. They headed for Mackay seeking work in the mines. Upon arrival in Mackay they found the mines were shut down so they continued on to Salmon, Idaho. Shortly after their arrival, his father purchased a livery barn and he worked with his father. Mr. Kingsbury purchased teams and wagons and began to freight from Red Rock to Salmon. In 1906 he ranched on Carmen Creek for about a year. In 1908 the Indian Reservation at Agency was open for homesteaders and he purchased a ranch on bid at Lemhi. He sold in 1910 and came to Salmon and freighted. In 1912 he went to Myers Cove and in 1914 purchased a ranch at Forney and raised cattle. He also packed for the forest service and had a mail contract from Forney to Myers Cove. In 1943 he sold the three ranches he had acquired to Bill Wilson, his son-in-law, and came to Salmon to make his home. Mr. Kingsbury married Amy May Roberts in May of 1903. She preceded him in death in 1957. He is survived by one son, Robert W. Kingsbury of Salmon; one daughter, Adele Wilson of Drummond, Montana; four grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Francis of Ethel, Washington, and Alegra Rittenhouse of Victorville, California. Burial took place in the Salmon Cemetery.
