Esa Kingsbury Terry was born 9 March 1885 in Minnessela,South Dakota, one of the four children born to George and Adelaide Kingsbury. The other children were: Grace (married George Francis), Allegra, (married Frank Writtenhouse, the architect who designed the Lemhi County Courthouse), and Henry Earl, (who married Amy May Roberts, daughter of Thomas and Adline Roberts).
In 1892, Esa went to Lead City, South Dakota, with her parents. She grew up there and recived her schooling. In 1902 the family moved to Salmon, Idaho, where he father, George, bought a livery barn and saddle shop.
Esa married Ferril Terry on 30 Jun 1903 and they operated a ranch on McDevitt Creek for a number of years. Her husband also freighted, ran a mail delivery to Leesburg, was employed by the Forest Service and was a foreman with the CCC. In 1932 they purchased the Cabin Creek Ranch and store at Forney, which they operated until 1940. At that time they came to Salmon to make their home.
Esa died 28 Jun 1953 in Salmon's Steele Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
She was survived by her husband, Ferril; one daughter, Josephine Miller of Boise and the following grandchildren;Dixie May Hansen, Bernice May, Dexter Adele Dean, Zenis and Ferril Terry Miller; one great grandson; one brother, H. Earl Kingsbury of California; two sisters, Allegra Rittenhouse of Glendale California and Grace Francis of Randall, Washington. Two daughters preceded her in death; Helen Terry and Georgien Dean. Georgien married Ralph Dean and they had three daughters.
Esa was buried in the Salmon City Cemetery.
