Beatrice Barker "Nannie" Scott, 82, of Sykesville died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster.

Born June 8, 1926, in Oella, she was the daughter of the late Howard C. and Clara Gertrude Kelley Barker. She was the wife of the late David Moore Scott Sr.

She had worked for USF&G and had also been a homemaker. She was an active member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Sykesville. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Freedom Chapter No. 87.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law David "Bucky" M. Scott Jr. and Laura Scott of Woodbine, and Dwight Barker Scott Sr. and Catherine Scott of Westminster; daughters and sons-in-law Frances and James Elswick of Westminster, and Delores "Dodie" and Cornett Evans of Sykesville; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by siblings Elmer C. "Bud" and Howard Kenneth Barker and Mildred G. Slye.

A funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, with the Rev. Margaret Moon officiating. Interment will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery in Ellicott City.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Bethesda United Methodist Church, Attn: Worship Committee, 328 N. Klee Mill Road, Sykesville, MD 21784; or to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157. (Carroll Co Times - 6/24/2008)
