James Bartram, husband of Maria Kenney, migrated to America in 1855 with wife and three children. After landing in New York, the family moved to Pennsylvania where they resided until the late 1860s. The 1870 census has the family living in Illinois, where they lived until moving to the Stoneburg, Texas area to continue farming, the life they knew. James and wife Marie lived to their mid-sixties, a lifespan typical of the life they led. They were buried in the Adora cemetery along with their son Fred, who passed at the age of 28.
