WHEREAS, It has seemed best to an allwise Providence to remove from our midst our beloved comrades and Past Commanders, William Osborn and E.C. Nelson. We deeply sympathize with the bereft families in this, their great affliction, and pray that their wounded hearts may be healed by the promise of Him who doeth all things well. Comrades Osborn and Nelson were upright and honorable citizens, ever ready to give a helping hand where needed, and generously dispensing hospitalities to all comers. Worthy and honorable comrades of the G.A.R., whose congenial companionship and wise counsels will be sadly missed at roll call. Comrades, who in the dark days of this country's history, from 1861 to 1865, manfully fought for the supremacy of this Union of States one and indivisible, that the starey emblem of Liberty might float over all, thereby bequeathing to posterity the richest legacy in the history of nations. They have answered to the last roll call, obeyed the last command of our Supreme Commander. Taps has been sounded, lights out, their spirits have passed out beyond the picket lines, while their bodies have been entombed in the low green tents that never open outward, there to await the bugle's reveille call on the resurrection morn. Be it
Resolved: That the post's charter be draped in mourning for the space of thirty days and there resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this post. Be it further
Resolved: That a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family of each of these comrades; also a copy to each of the local papers for publication.
