Peter Zinnen died this morning at his home, 1402 Villa street, aged eighty-two years. He has been a resident of this city for fifty years. Four sons, two daughters and thirteen grandchildren survive him. The funeral will be held from the house Saturday morning at 8:30 and at 9 o'clock from Holy Name Church.


Peter Zinnen was born in Wilsecker, Germany in 1822, the son of Leonardi Zinnen and Magdalena Kertz. He left his native homeland and sailed to America in 1854 on the ship Elizabeth Denison with his brother, Matthias Zinnen, and his sister, Magda1ena Zinnen and her husband, Jacob Meyer. They arrived June 12. Another sibling, Margaret Zinnen, and her husband, Peter Seigler, arrived earlier. The Zinnen family first settled in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Peter was the only sibling to remain there; the others eventually moved on to Minnesota. Peter married Margaretha Lichter in 1861. She died in childbirth. He married again to Maria Berg. He died in 1905.
